14-week program for new or working nursing assistants.
REGISTRATION FEE: $500.00
Not included in the fee will be the costs of a physical, TB test, uniform, gait belt and back support belt. Registration fee includes books and materials.
Registration IN PERSON ONLY. Introduction course required prior to starting classes.

Introduction to Certified Nursing Assistant
REGISTRATION FEE: $17.00 This fee is non-refundable or transferrable, unless the class is cancelled.
After completing the Introduction course, enrollment information for CNA course will be given. Please arrive early, bring a #2 pencil and note paper with you.
Children are not allowed. Plan to stay two hours for class and testing. Requirements: State requires a Social Security number in order to become a CNA. Must be 18 or must show proof of High School Diploma or equivalent.

Offered once a month, except June. ONLINE REGISTRATION opens on the 1st of the month prior to the Introduction class. Held in the Cora Thayer Health Occupations Center Rooms 1 and 2.

Six CNA CEU units received upon completion. A different topic each month allows C.N.A.s the opportunity to acquire CEUs in order to renew their state certificates.

Restorative Nursing Assistant Course
Pre-registration in person is required. You must present CNA Cert. or proof of passing state exam in order to register. The course is designed for Certified Nursing Assistants who are interested in enhancing their knowledge of restorative care and advancing clinical skills. RNA Certificate will only be issued if all 16 hours are completed with a passing grade of C or better.

30-hour classroom course covers laws and regulations to prepare for the California Highway Patrol written examination. (Does NOT include behind-the-wheel training. This training can be obtained at the place of employment.) PRE-REGISTRATION is required. ALL STUDENTS, NEW AND RENEWALS, MUST PURCHASE THEIR OWN SCHOOL BUS DRIVER HANDBOOK 82.7 AT THE CHP OFFICE, PRIOR TO ATTENDING CLASS.

Ornamental Horticulture
GREEN GARDNER BASICS COURSE
This 10-week series covers all aspects of ecological landscaping, including soil health, water-wise plant selection, efficient irrigation systems, natural pruning, and integrated pest management. This class is suitable for landscape industry employees seeking Green Gardener certification and home gardeners.

Este curso de 10 semanas provee entrenamiento vocacional en la jardinería ecológica, incluyendo la salud del suelo, la seleccíon de plantas que conservan agua, los sistemas eficientes de riego, la poda natural, y el manejo integrado de plagas. Este curso es para empleados de negocios de jardinería y jardineros auto-empleados buscando certificatión profesional, y jardineros de casa.

This class does not include the state exam. You must take the state exam in person. To take the state exam: Log on to https://notary.cps.ca.gov or call 916-263-3520 to schedule a testing date. You may register for the exam at any time. Taking the education class prior to the exam is recommended.

PHARMACY TECHNICIAN TRAINING PROGRAM

This is a 25 week training program.
The Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist with mixing and packaging prescriptions, maintaining client records, referring clients to the pharmacist for counseling, assisting with inventory control and purchasing, as well as collecting payment and coordinating billing. This course combines 168 hours of classroom instruction with a 120-hour pharmacy externship to provide students with a complete learning experience. Students will receive a certificate of completion upon course completion.
