FALL 2007
Salinas Adult School offers the community a variety of support groups in areas of concern such as caregiving, parenting, and groups for wheelchair users.
Scroll down through the list below and contact the department shown with the support group of your choice. Be sure to note details of time/date and location, plus whether or not there is a fee. Call the numbers shown to obtain up-to-date information, then complete the mail-in registration form or come to the school to sign up. Pre-registration is requested.

Every second Wednesday of the month.

Caregiver University EXTENSION:
One Day Workshops for Family Caregivers
As an extension to the popular Caregiver University, the Health Projects Center, Area Agency on Aging and the Salinas Adult School will be offering two workshops this Fall.

Self Care for Family Caregivers
Caregiving a family member living with brain impairment such as AlzheimeríŮs. Learn practical strategies to keep yourself healthy, lower your stress level and better manage the day-to-day challenges. Presented by Kendra Webster, ACSW, Clinical Services Manager and Carina Jansson-Toner, Famiy Consultant, Del Mar Caregiver Resource Center, who have many years experience working with family caregivers.

Mature Driver Improvement Course
AARP teaches safe driving techniques for persons 50 years of age and older. Certificates from the State of California will be given that could get drivers a 2% to 20% discount on auto insurance for three years. REGISTER EARLY! Room C-8. Instructors to be announced.

SUPPORT GROUPS
Nursing Mothers Support Group
Offers practical information and encouragement to pregnant and nursing moms. You do not have to be currently breastfeeding to attend. Children are welcome. Parents of newborns are invited to stay for Sharing Times Class, which begins at 12:30 pm. Meets on Thursdays during our Sharing Times class.
Monterey County Family Child Care Association Group
Meets monthly at Salinas Adult School. For additional information, contact Norma at 443-5526.Salinas MothersíŮ Club

Divorced Fathers
Founded in 1988, the Divorced Fathers Network is a peer support, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children, fathers and mothers by supporting engaged, effective fathering during and after divorce.
