Childbirth books and video library available for students. Lamaze Childbirth Class Series at Salinas Adult School The birth of your baby is an exciting event and hard work. Learn the skills, positions and strategies that can build your confidence and make your childbirth experience a positive one. Expectant parents-to-be have lots of questions and worries. How will I know when I'm in labor? Will it hurt? What can I do to make my labor more comfortable? How do I take care of a newborn? In this class series, you will learn labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care. Be sure to sign-up for the breastfeeding class. The fee is included in your childbirth class fee. Please register early. Classes should be completed by your 8th month. This class can be taken as a 5 weekly evening sessions or a 2 session Saturday class. Be sure to check location since class location varies. Breastfeeding Class Breastfeeding is so much easier with this class. Get off to a good start with correct latch, positioning, knowing how to tell if your baby is getting enough milk and ways to prevent common breastfeeding challenges. Discussion will also include returning to work and breast pumps. Pregnant moms with their support persons are encouraged to attend. Part of the childbirth class series for SAS and SVMHS students. Prepares parents and their children 3 to 10 years old for a new baby in the family. Provides opportunities for parents to prepare their children for the new baby with activities of story time, baby doll holding and diapering, crafts and a visit to the birth room and seeing a newborn baby. However, this class also includes one session at SVMHS for a tour of the birth room. A book is also included in the fee. Our Co-op Preschool Program is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and provides Parents As Teachers (P.A.T.) services. Our Fall registration for the 2010–2011 school year begins in the Spring of 2010. The child must be 3 years old by December 2, 2010. The $50 registration fee and tuitions are non-refundable. A $60 material fee is also required.
