Excited but also a little nervous about birth and being a parent? Come prepare for labor, birth, breastfeeding and the new baby with one of our Childbirth Education classes. Lamaze Childbirth Class Series at Salinas Adult School The birth of your baby is an exciting event and hard work. Learn the skills, positions and strategies that can build your confidence and make your childbirth experience a positive one. Expectant parents-to-be have lots of questions and worries. How will I know when I'm in labor? Will it hurt? What can I do to make my labor more comfortable? How do I take care of a newborn? In this class series, you will learn labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care. Be sure to sign-up for the breastfeeding class. The fee is included in your childbirth class fee. Please register early. Classes should be completed by your 8th month. This class can be taken as a 5 weekly evening sessions or a 2 session Saturday class. Be sure to check class location, as these vary. Breastfeeding Class Breastfeeding is so much easier with this class. Get off to a good start with correct latch, positioning, knowing how to tell if your baby is getting enough milk and ways to prevent common breastfeeding challenges. Discussion will also include returning to work and breast pumps. Pregnant moms with their support persons are encouraged to attend. Part of the childbirth class series for SAS and SVMHS students. Bring pen, healthy snack and water. Taught at Salinas Adult School One Saturday morning class 9/18 OR 11/6 9:00 am to 1:00 pm Fee: $20/No fee if enrolled in childbirth series at SVMHS or SAS Sibling Class "My mom is having a baby!" Prepares parents and their children 3 to 10 years old for a new baby in the family. Provides opportunities for parents to prepare their children for the new baby with activities of story time, baby doll holding and diapering, crafts and a visit to the birth room and seeing a newborn baby. St. Fee: $10 per family One Saturday morning at 9:30am 9/11 OR 11/13 To register, call SVMH Babyline at 753-2229 Spanish Childbirth Class Series This 5 week series is similar in content to the "Lamaze Childbirth Class Series" but in the Spanish language. Our Co-op Preschool Program is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and provides Parents As Teachers (P.A.T.) services. Our Fall registration for the 2010–2011 school year is ongoing. Space is available in our Pre-Kinder and afternoon multiage classes. The child must be 3 years old by December 2, 2010. The $50 registration fee and tuitions are non-refundable. A $60 material fee is also required. Preschool Programs 2010–2011 Morning Program 3 year olds T/TH, 8:00am to 12:00pm/$65 per month 4 year olds MWF, 8:00am to 12:00pm/$95 per month Afternoon Program Multi-Age 3s and 4s T/TH–2 day, 12:00 to 4:00pm/$65 per month MWF–3 day, 12:00 to 4:00pm/$95 per month Pre-Kindergarten 2010 – 2011 Older 4s and 5s Our multi-age pre-kinder program is designed for older 4s and 5s not quite ready for kindergarten.
