The tests are free. If you would like a certificate to show your word-per-minute score, the fee is $5—cash only— payable after completing the tests. You must present a picture ID to be able to test. You can improve your study and teaching skills, learn how to use computers and build an employment portfolio. Instructional Aide test preparation and High School Diploma credit available. Tutoring Volunteers Appreciated! Orientation: Wednesday, 9/17/08 1:45-3:45pm, Room: E-4 Class: Friday, 9/19/08 thru 1/9/09 12:30-3:30pm, Room: E-4 Moving Up With Math! Instruction is available in Algebra Readiness/Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry. Explore math in a non-threatening, self-paced manner, with one-on-one assistance from the instructor. Help is available with preparation in math assessments and the California High School Exit Exam. Requirements: 8 hours of weekly attendance, refundable textbook deposit, and a sincere desire to succeed in the study of mathematics. High school math credit may be available. Pre-Employment Assessment Preparation Workshop This course includes instruction in passing basic skills—math, reading and writing—examinations for entry-level employment. Assessment strategies and successful interviewing techniques, as well as guidelines for test preparation will be presented. An opportunity to take a comprehensive assessment to qualify for employment with the Salinas Union High School District is offered immediately following the workshop.
