G.E.D.® and High School Diploma
Now is the time!
Graduate from high school and open up your future to better employment! At Salinas Adult School, we offer all required classes
for High School Diploma, plus GED® test preparation and testing
services. We'll help you gather and calculate your credits from whatever schools you've attended previously.
Choose classes that fit your schedule:
Daytimes, Evenings or Home Study (Distance Learning).
Offered in both English and Spanish
REGISTRATION FEE: $30, includes required $5.00 Photo ID fee.

INTRODUCTION COURSE
Required for ALL Incoming G.E.D.® and High School Diploma students:

Before beginning your G.E.D.® or High School Diploma classes, you must complete
an Introduction course. You must be 18 or over to register.
Students must attend and complete the entire course before they
can be placed into class. Students are urged NOT to begin the Introduction until they
can complete every day.
Registration online is required. No mail or phone-ins.
Registration opens up the month prior to the first class date.
Class size is strictly limited. Choose a week that you can attend fully.
Choose a Morning, Afternoon or evening session.
NOTE about online registration: After you click on the REGISTER NOW button, choose the course titled "Introduction to GED/HSD". Then click on Introduction on the right to see a list of upcoming classes.
If this is your first time registering online, you will be a "new" student.
In the registration process you will be asked to create a user name and password.
Please make note of it. Print your receipt and bring it to
class.

220 credits including
- English – 40
- Reading – 10
- Fine Arts – 10
- Math – 30
- Health – 10
- Science – 20
- Social Science – 30
- Vocational Ed. – 10
- Foreign Language – 20
- Electives – 30
PLUS Technology Competency, Senior Project/Community Service
and GPA 2.0 or higher _____________________________
GED® (General Education Development) requirements:
The student must pass all five subject areas:
Writing Skills, Literature, Social Studies,
Mathematics, and Science

CAHSEE Preparation Classes
Work with a teacher to prepare for the California High School Exit Exam
SUMMER 2010 Schedule:
M-F, 6/14 thru 7/23, 1:00-4:30pm
Register in advance in the ESD Department
CASHEE TESTS given once this summer on July 27 and 28
FALL 2010 Schedule:
English Language Arts: M/W/F 10:00-11:00am
or T-TH 6:15-7:15pm
Mathematics: M-F 9:00-10:00am
or T-TH 7:15-8:15pm
Register in the Education and Skills Department prior to attending class.

Attention GED/High School Diploma/ABE Winter/Spring 2010 STUDENTS:
CLASSES resume August 11, 2010 for Fall Quarter
On the first day of class, returning or continuing students will be required to:
- Pay yearly fee of $35
- Obtain a current Student ID
- Complete a new registration information form

FALL 2010
INTRODUCTION TO GED/HSD/ABE
FEE: $30 (Mastercard, VISA or Discovercard)
An Introduction course is REQUIRED for ALL NEW STUDENTS and
students who have not attended within the last year. Introduction Classes will be offered
twice a month beginning in August. ONLINE REGISTATION ONLY

INSTRUCTIONS for COURSE ENROLLMENT:
1. Only sign up for a section that you can attend.
2. You are required to bring a pencil and pen with you to each class.
You will need to purchase a student ID card which costs $5.00.
3. Children are not allowed to attend class with you.
4. It is required that you complete all hours of the section you registered for,
before you are placed into class.
SCHEDULES:
August 2010 Introduction to GED/HSD classes:
Morning: M-F, 8/16 thru 8/20, 9:00am to Noon
Evening: TWTH, 8/23 thru 8/27, 6:00 to 9:00pm
Fee: $30.00 includes photo ID and yearly registration fee

HOME STUDY PROGRAM
(Distance Learning)
Do you need a flexible and convenient way to get your high school diploma
or GED®? Try our distance-learning program.
The above Introduction Course is required before new
students can begin the Distance Learning program. $10.00 materials fee is payable first day of class.

GED® Plus WorkKeys/WIN Training
Offered by Salinas Adult School at the One-Stop Career Center
Pre-registration is required. Offered all-day, M-F. Attend at a time that fits your schedule.
Targeted for those wishing to obtain critical work skills along with GED test preparation.
Pre-registration REQUIRED. You must be registered before attending your first class session.

Moving Up With MATH!
Instruction is available in Algebra Readiness (Pre-Algebra), Algebra, and Geometry.
Requirements: 8 hours of weekly attendance, refundable textbook deposit. High school math credits available.
Registration in person in the ES department any day at 10:00am Mondays through Fridays
Class Hours: M-F, 8:00am to 12:00pm OR T-TH, 6:00 to 9:00pm
