DEVELOPING NEWS: Throughout the State, adult schools are reconfiguring, adapting, changing and closing. In the struggle to continue, despite the State's withdrawl of funding, essential programs that benefit our communities, we are working to maintain education opportunities such as ESL, GED High School Diploma and parent education courses and workshops. Our efforts include combining with other alternative education programs and seeking new funding. School districts such as our own Salinas Union High School District are redirecting programs under new "umbrellas." Salinas Adult School is now part of the Salinas Education Center, sharing facilities with El Puente School, Special Education and other alternative ed services and administration in our district. This Fall, all of our ESL classes will be offered in classrooms at district high schools. |
